Nikolai is the owner of the Blossom d'Amour Flower Shop where Ruth Fisher works for a time after the death of her husband.
Biography[]
The two eventually become a couple but Nikolai is seriously in debt, owning a large sum of money to Russian gangsters, who beat him up and leave him with broken legs. Nikolai recuperates at the Fisher house with Ruth's help but she ultimately causes more tension when she pays off the Russian gangsters with the money from her late husband's life insurance policy.
Nikolai is seen for the last time in a fantasy sequence where Ruth envisions herself shooting all of her former lovers as carnival music plays in the background.
